Black Brain are not only the production power behind such successful shows at City Ses’la , Abo Mzala and Culture Shock but also two thirds of the eclectic group Gang of Instrumentals.
Gang of Instrumentals is a critically-acclaimed, multi-award winning South African urban-pop group, founded in 2002. This Johannesburg based group consists of Tumi ‘Lady Naturelle’ Masemola, Mandla N, and ‘Bongo’ Riot Zungu. Their innovative musical style is a mixture of hip hop, street rap, pop, soul, R&B, ragga, reggae and rock, with elements of kwaito and house.
This trio is one of the most successful independent groups in South Africa, having received 2 SAFTA Golden Horns for best soundtrack in a TV comedy 2006 & 7, 2 Channel O nominations for best group and best video 2005, and a SAMA nomination for record of the year 2008 and a SAMA for best urban pop album 2009 and MTV nomination for best group 2009.
Within days of signing the group, we were able to place one of the signatures songs “Oh Yeah” into the much anticipated SA film “Nothing for Mahala” Black Brain has also been nominated at the Loeries 2013 for their Lokshin Bioskop Bheka La Wena adverts, which has brought the nation much laughter.
Good luck at the 2013 Loeries and welcome to the Sheer Publishing family Black Brain.
