Cassper Nyovest in the spotlight yet again! The eccentric Cassper Nyovest took home yet another award to ad to his already impressive Award collection. Cassper won the “Best Newcomer of the Year” award for his highly sort after 2014 release, Tsholofelo. A triumphant Cassper graced the SAMA stage with a host of Hip Hop giants to receive his award. Promoting a message of “Ubuntu” with his fellow musicians, he gave thanks to his peers and fans for the support they gave him throughout his career, sighting that without them, he wouldn’t be where he is. A very big congrats to Cassper for his unprecedented and memorable contribution to South African Hip Hop.
The Legendary Zim Nqgawana was presented with a Lifetime Acheivement Award along with Mdu Masilela and Mandla “Spikiri” Mofokeng. Zim Nqgawana, a South African flautist and saxophonist who was better known as Zimology. With an impressive rap sheet, Zim has worked with the likes of Hugh Masekela and Abdullah Ibrahim to mention a few. We’d like to congratulate Ingoma’s very own for his invaluable contribution to South African Music.
What’s been a truly rewarding year for Wouter Kellerman with a Grammy Award to boast about , continues to sore to truly exceptional heights. Kellerman took home “Best Producer of the Year”, “Best Classical and/or Instrumental Album” and the “International Achievement Award” for his timeless creation “Winds of Samsara” at the SAMA’s. Kellerman embellished the stage with “The Soil” and eloquently spoken poet “Bothale Boikanyo” for a once in a lifetime performance. Congratulations to Wouter Kellerman for his achievement.
South Africa’s multiple award winning songstress Lerato “Lira” Molapo took home yet another “Best Live DVD” award. Produced by Robin Kohl, Lira’s manager, “First Decade” marks the songstress decade in the industry. A DVD about her remarkable journey as world-class singer/songwriter has rightfully earned her the SAMA’s “Best Live DVD” for 2014/15. Make sure you get yourself a copy of this significant moment in time. Congratulation to Lira for yet another well earned milestone.
The Dynamic Duo that is Robbie Malinga and Mojalefa Thebe took home the award for “Remix of the Year” for their work on Zahara’s “Indlela Yam” along with Dj Sbu. The tag teams contribution to South African Music is one that has won many hearts over, as their work always seems to strike a chord with the masses. We congratulate the two legends for their ever-continuing winning streak.
