Gcina “Dotcom” Nkula, is a South African rapper/singer/dancer. He first received attention with his Hip Hop dancing at the Hip Hop World Championships in Los Angeles 2007. He was chosen to represent South Africa again in 2009 in Las Vegas. In that same year he conquered as overall winner at Masters of Rhythm which is broadcasted on VUZU and seen as the biggest dance competition in Africa, in popping & locking. During December 2008 he was invited to teach dance classes in St Petersburg, Russia. He received valuable recognition for his dancing through which he was given the opportunity to participate in various professional dancing programmes.
A major highlight within his dancing career was when he choreographed a couple Hip Hop numbers for South Africa’s, “So you think you can dance” in 2010, 2013 & 2014.
He was chosen to dance during opening ceremony of the FIFA soccer world Cup that was hosted by South Africa in 2010. During the same year he starred in South Africa’s first dance movie, “Zion”, released in 2014 on SABC1. With a passion for Hip Hop he pursued his music career during 2011 and has received recognition for his exceptional diversity and talent within the music industry. During 2011, he opened for well renowned American rappers such as Busta Rhymes and Fat Joe at ZAR fest Zimbabwe.
For his first single, “GET MINE”, he was chart topping as no.1 on 5fm Hip Hop Power Nights, hosted by DJ C-live and was play listed on high rotation on Yfm, UJ fm, Bush radio and Trance Africa radio. His solo career received more recognition with the launch of his first music video for “GET MINE”. He then released another track from his upcoming mixtape, called “Hatin on D” and has received positive and promising feedback from the music industry, as well as fans. His mixtape, M.O.E.T (Music Over Every Thing, hosted by DJ C-Live) was released early 2013 and received over 6000 downloads.
In 2014 Dot Com signed to Sony Music Africa. He released the hit single “Izapha” under this stable featuring Cassper Nyovest. This song made the top 20 most played songs in South Africa, and the music video reached over 60 000 views on Youtube. The music Video “Izapha” was also play listed on Music Channels such as MTV Africa’s top10, Channel O Crispy fresh, Vuzu and SABC1.
He featured on Dj Speedsta’s hit single “Bad Chick” alongside Da Les gaining him major industry respect.
Dot Com started 2015 with a bang, he released his second single with Showlove music called “The One” and is currently on rotation on radio stations such as Yfm, 5fm and Ukhozi FM. “The One” recently took the number 1 spot on Yfm’s RnB chart. He then collaborated on the vibrant R&B hit ‘Pretty Black Rose’ by DJ Radix ft Stilo Magolide.
