Meet your composer- Mbuso Boy Mahlangu

UniQue891. How long have you been composing?

I have been composing music for three years now since I started in the year 2013.

2. What is your creative process? How do you start creating a beat? / How do you start writing lyrics to a beat?

My powerful creative process starts from synths/strings/pads I come across in DWA I use, for example Reason and FL studio.

3. What made you chose a career in this field?

It all started from tender age as I was and still Inspired by International producers such as Jimpster, Andre Lodemann, Manuel Tur, Atjazz, Rocco and not to leave our local geniuses such as Da Capo and Problem Child.

4. Did you do any courses for your career field?

Non I can think off, been consumed by music because of being surrounded by DJ’s as friends, such as DJ Speaker and Luu Nine Eleven and my young brother MIndloDJ. I am a former Graphic Designer. Having studied it in a campus infested by Popular Music Course students in Central Johannesburg College Highveld Campus (Crown Mines Site)

5. What advice can you give to aspiring composers?

School is important no matter what skill you might be blessed with. Always put enough education upfront as it will be the perfect foundation for your career in current and of course for better in future times.

6. Which other composer’s or artists have you worked with?

I have worked with DJ Pastor from El Mental Souls Music and I am currently working with Mosehla Prince Mokganyetji aka Buder Prince the owner of Deep Obsession Recordings label.

7. What has been the highlight of your career?

Working under Deep Obsession Recordings is currently my highlight as they are a great marketing aspect in my career by placing my music in the market.
