Oct 25, 2022

Joyce Blessing is Ghanaian a gospel artist. Joyce has always had an endearment for music and started singing in the church at the early age of 14 and also made sure she never missed any of the musical concerts held in her vicinity, even when her mother tried to prevent her from attending these functions.

Blessing has arguably disabused the stigmatized notion that gospel musicians are inactive on stage. She sharpened her live performance skills as the youngest member of the “See Them Band” group in Kumasi. She played with the band for five years, and also served as backing vocalist to numerous other Ghanaian musicians like Evangelist Diana Asamoah, Jewel Ackah, Mary Ghansah, Ernest Opoku Jnr, and more.

At the 2014 awards, she bagged nominations in seven categories, winning five including Best Vocalist, Popular video, Artist of the year, song of the year, and Album of the year.

She also achieved her first entry into the ultimate Ghana Music Awards in 2014 where she secured nominations in the Gospel Song of the Year, Best Female Vocal Performance, Gospel Artiste of the Year, Gospel Album of the Year, and Best Collaboration of the Year categories with her album “Heavy Price” album, eventually taking the award for the Best Gospel Album of the year.

In 2014 she release two more worship albums ‘Holy Ghost Worship Volumes 1 and 2 under the management of Media Excel and DaveJoy Productions. In 2017 she released her fifth studio album “Agyebum” which again earned her several nominations at that year’s National Gospel Awards where she won the Best Praise Song of the Year Award. She then won an award at the 2017 4syte Music Video Awards for Best Gospel Music Video of the Year with her video for her single “Lord’s Prayer”. In 2018, she signed with Zylofon Music.

In 2018, Blessing took the lead at the forefront of the Ghanaian gospel industry by copping nominations at all awards organised in Ghana, winning Gospel Artiste of the year at Ghana Entertainment Awards USA, Ghana Music Awards South Africa Gospel Artiste of the Year, and three awards at the BAMA Awards, making it a total of 22 awards received in just five years, an achievement no Ghanaian gospel musician has been able to attain so far.

She then again grabbed nominations for Gospel Song of the Year and Gospel Artiste of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, as well as others.  In 2019, Blessing received nominations for the Hippo Music Awards in Uganda and six nominations at MAWA 2019 in Nigeria, also winning an award with her single “Repent” single at the Maranatha Global Worship Music Awards In Kenya. She currently has over 36 awards and 8 albums to her credit
