Mar 14, 2017

Mogomotsi “Morzaaq Arts” Khumalo was born and raised in a village called Letlhakaneng in Brits, North West Province.  As a young boy, he used to perform in a gospel boy band called Inspiration, the group performed in churches around North West and Pretoria from 1998 till 2003. He later took part in a musical at the UNISA Little Theatre in Pretoria, where he worked with Russel Long from “The Pub to the palace.” In 2005 Morzaaq went to study Jazz and contemporary music majoring in Vocals at Ochrim School of Music.

Morzaaq Arts is now contemporary R&B singer who has strong house music influences and occasional hip hop influences as well, he has blazed his own career as a solo artist and has managed to perform at gigs and corporate functions in and around Pretoria. In 2006 he co-produced, arranged and wrote songs for Sbusiso Motha’s album, he wrote and performed the song titled Holy on the same album. In 2006 he also worked with Gavin Peters on another musical “A Tribute to the greatest.” At the WILD COAST, SUN INTERNATIONAL. In 2007 he briefly did some studio work with Mnqobi “Shota” Mdabe from the group Shana. (the group consisted of Black Coffee, Demor and Shota)

In 2008 Morzaaq Arts met Keys Snow and they started working on a track titled Mosadi Waka in 2010, which was written and sung by him. This track helped put Morzaaq on the map as it was also featured on Key Snows album titled “The bigger Picture” – which was released on the compilation Album “House Afrika Sessions 2”.  The release of Mosadi Waka came with lot of exposure and interest from other Dj’s who loved his writing in Setswana and requested to work with him. He later worked with talented DJ’s such as Rowick Deep, Dj Sisco Umlambo, DJ Stax and Chymamusique on different projects.

Morzaaq Arts is now working on his very own two new projects “The Tribute Project” which is due for release in April and “Son Of God” which is due for release in July.

Congratulations on your upcoming projects, wishing you best of luck!!!
