Renowned around the world and adored for her impressive vocal prowess, she is an artist who employs a true cultural and African identity in her art form. Simphiwe Dana will be gracing the Bassline stage and kick-starting the Kaya FM Presents Live @ The Bassline series on Saturday 6 August.
Joining her in this music extravaganza is uMthwakazi whose music is a synthesis of African Indigenous bow music, Classical (Opera) and Choral, redefined as “Xho-pera”, which means Xhosa Opera. Her repertory is mainly derived from Xhosa Bow Music and is firmly entrenched in African dance rhythms. Her music carries a message which emphasizes optimism and progress and also advocates for ubuntu (humanity) as a way of living. Join these two magnificent artists at Bassline and unwind after the week of the election fever.
