Tony Dick Junior who was previously known as Philip Dube, is young man who began his career in the with a solo performance at one musical stage play produced by my co-matriculant back when I was in high school. Since then he never looked back.
In 2010 he met his brother’s friend Tino Beatboy, who was also Zahara’s drummer then. After hearing Phil‘s smooth and silky voice he called him to his studio and they’ve recorded their first song together called “Turn your eyes to Jesus.” They’ve since started working together on his debut Album called “Testimony.’’ This young, talented and extraordinary vocalist has also joined an Accapella group at his church (seventh Day Adventists) in the year 2011. They got nominated for be Best Acapella Group at the 5th Crown Gospel Awards (SABC) at the Durban ICC. ‘Unfortunately they didn’t win the award however this didn’t stop him from pursuing his dream.
Phil also auditioned for SA Idols in the year 2012, where he was in competition with musician such as Khaya Mthethwa and came out Top34. He auditioned one more time in 2013 and came top 16. Shortly after this he realised he needed to take his career to another level. He also did some amazing performances at the Transnet Awards ceremonies.
Phil with his amazing talent has managed to secure himself a spot at Signature restaurant in Morningside –Sandton as their regular performer. This humbled soul has also been offered an amazing job as vocalist on the Hong Kong Disneyland Lion King Production.
Congratulations Phil. We wish you all the best in your career.
