Monday 4th September 2017 marks a very sad day for all of us at Sheer Publishing. It is with great sadness that we announce that our client, composer and dear friend Jonathan Colin Buckley, has passed away. It is believed that Jon had a severe asthma attack on Monday night that sadly he did not recover from.
Mandrew Mnguni, Head of Creative at Sheer Publishing commented, “I was shocked upon hearing the news. It is deeply saddening! Jon has been with us for over 14 years. In this time we have done great work together. It’s simply surreal that this journey has come to an end.”
Jon has composed and produced hundreds upon thousands of instrumentals and jingles for television, radio and corporate productions during his time with Sheer. He is also the composer that created the iconic MTN mnemonic that the brand has identified itself so strongly with for the last 13 years.
“He was a truly talented composer and musician, it was an absolute pleasure to work with him. I’m certain his legacy will live on through his music”, says production music admin, Brett Vorster.
We [Sheer Publishing] extend our gratitude to Jon for all his time and tireless effort he put into his craft. We are truly appreciative of the work he has put in. We send our best regards and most sincere condolences to his family, friends and all those close to him.
