Sheer Publishing attended DOADOA

The Sheer Publishing team attended the fourth edition of DOADOA | East African Performing Arts Market which took place from 6th to 9th May 2015 in Uganda (Kampala/Jinja). DOADOA is the East African Performing Arts Market that provide a platform for professional networking and joint learning, brings together various stakeholders and link people, organizations, businesses, knowledge and technology with a view to create demand and develop a market for the performing arts and unlock the potential of the East African creative industry, making it an important factor for economic, social and cultural development throughout the region.

The Sheer Publishing team participated in two programmes during the market. The topic was “Earning Music royalties in East Africa” of which Sheer Publishing gave an overview of current practise of African CMO’s vs Ideal practice of CMO. Joined on the on panel were members from MCSK (Kenya CMO) and UPRS (Ugandan CMO). This discussion gave great insight to right holders the issues facing CMO’s in Africa and an opportunity for engagement with the industry. The second discussion Sheer Publishing participated in was “We are looking for East African content” which took a look at what the local and international are looking in terms of content. This was intense discussion moderated by Moses Serugo Programmes Director for NTV Uganda.

Sheer Publishing enjoyed and learned a lot from the engagement with the East African music industry and looks forward to Doadoa 2016!!
