South Africa loses yet another highly gifted Musician. Xoli Nkosi was a specialist as a Synthesized Keyboard Playerb & equally becoming a respected Pianist. He was an emotive Vocalist as well as a gifted Composer & Arranger. After graduating from the University of KwaZulu Natal, Nkosi dedicated his career to supporting many established and developing Artists with the same passion & humility.
Xoli Nkosi has been highly instrumental & selflessly involved in developing a new generation of young Professional & semi-Professional musicians who come from the Township of Duduza, Nigel.
He was held in high esteem by his peers across the music industry. Xoli performed and/or recorded with many top Artists such as (The late) Sipho Gumede, Siphokazi, Concord Nkabinde, Andy Narell, Khaya Mahlangu, Joyous Celebration, Mama Abigail Kubheka, (The late) Prince Kupi & many more.
Xoli also released one solo album under his own name in 2004, namely Sangena. This album was co-produced with Andy Narell, and was released by the Sheer Sound label to substantial critical acclaim.
Xoli Nkosi left us after a very brief illness diagnosed as Guillain--Barré Syndrome. A disorder that causes the immune system to attack the outer nervous system. This rare disorder occurs to 1 in every 100 000 people. Nkosi, born 20th August 1975 met his untimely death on the 10th January 2013. He is survived by his wife Happy & their 2 children. May his soul rest in peace!!!
