The Independent National Gospel Music Awards (INGOMA), were founded in 2013 with the aim to recognize and promote independent and upcoming Gospel artists .This year’s 4th INGOMAs were held at Lyric Theater, on the 26th of August 2017. One of the outstanding initiatives by these awards, is that they are the first to have these three unique categories: the best backup singer, the best street promoting artist and the best cd sleeve. The event was well attended even by some of the key players in the music industry and community.
Adriaan Sing, a Durban based artist who won the best worship album gave a heart moving speech on how these awards have reached out to the least and disregarded artists, providing them a platform where they can be honored for the contribution they make in their various communities and churches. The atmosphere was filled up warmth and gratitude of the winners along with heartwarming performances.
Sheer’s very own Mawat and Tumi B graced the stage for memorable performances. Of the two, Tumi B scooped herself an award for best song writer. It is platforms such as these where giants are born and destinies are shaped.
